What is a BSc Minor

BSc minors at Wageningen University consist of sets of courses of 24 European Credits (ECTS). The largest part of the BSc study programme is the major of 150 ECTS. The free choice space, besides the major, contains 30 ECTS.

Minors are a set of courses with coherence and profundity and are scheduled in either the first or second semester of the academic year.

Most students at Wageningen University are interested in a wide range of topics. Choosing a minor provides you with the chance to learn to think outside the box. It can also allow you to deepen your knowledge and competencies within your own field of knowledge.

Information about the minors

The BSc minors are intended for third year BSc students from Wageningen University or from other universities. There are also possibilities for HBO students to take a minor. And because about half of the minors are completely in English, they can be interesting for international students as well.

Information about admission for students of Wageningen University is on the admission to minors page.

Students from outside Wageningen University can take a look at
the page for external students for admission to the minors. Moreover, our minors can be interesting for non-students as a Life Long Learning experience. Contact the minor coordinator for more information.

Twice a year the minor market takes place at the Forum building. The next minormarket will be in April 2012.
If you want specific information about a minor that interests you, contact the minor coordinator of that minor. If you want more general information about the BSc minors at Wageningen University and you cannot find it on these pages, contact the central minor coordinator at info.minors@wur.nl.

Alternative possibilities

Students of Wageningen University also have the opportunity to take a minor, or to follow courses, at other universities in the Netherlands or abroad. You need approval from your study adviser and the Examination Board to take courses and minors outside Wageningen University. See minors at other universities for a list of useful links.

And aside from the minors offered through the Wageningen University BSc study programme, you may also design your own individual minor of 24 credits. If you want to create an individual minor you need to discuss this with your study adviser, like you have to discuss all courses to fill in your free choice space. You have to write a well-founded proposal for your individual minor. This proposal has to be approved by the study advisor and by the Examination Board. The name you choose for your minor will, after approval, be printed on your diploma, just like the names of the WU BSc minors are.
