Student physician

Per 01-04-2011 Wageningen University has no longer a student physician this means that the healthcare for Wageningen University students will be organised differently.

1. Dean for Students.
2. Student psychologists.
3. General practitioner – doctor’s practice v.d. Duin/v. Dinther.

1. Dean for students:
if you need help or advice – both personal and practical- regarding finances, housing, study delay caused by circumstances beyond your control, study progress, mediation, changing of study programme and for special –exam-arrangements e.g. in case of a handicap, FOS, etc.
You can also contact the dean for students when you have problems which are related to stress or when you need a medical declaration. If necessary they can refer you either to your own general practitioner, the student psychologist or in case of study related issues to the company doctor for students who is working at the medical practice of v.d. Duin/v. Dinther.
 

2. Student psychologists:
if you need help when you have personal problems such as: adaptation difficulties, homesickness, shyness, social anxiety, contact and relation problems, depression, mourning, eating problems, and stress. You can also contact the psychologist if you have study problems  i.e. discipline, fear of failure, fear of public speaking, concentration, planning and dyslexia. They can also help you to acquire more insight into the background of a study delay. If necessary they can refer you to the dean for students, your own general practitioner or in case of study related issues to the company doctor for students who is working at the medical practice of v.d. Duin/v. Dinther.
 

3. General Practitioner - Doctor’s Practice v.d. Duin/v. Dinther:
For all ‘normal’ medical issues and treatment of illnesses you should consult a general practitioner like v.d. Duin/v. Dinther. But also if you have visited the tropics for your study and you want a medical checkup upon return, if you have stress problems or symptoms of RSI /CANS (complaints Arm-Neck-Shoulder), if you need advice concerning sexuality, nutrition, sports, drugs, handicaps and chronic diseases. If necessary they can refer you either to the student psychologist ,the student dean, or in case of study related issues to the company doctor for students who is working at their practice or to a specialist.
 
No costs will be charged for consulting the student dean, student psychologist or if you consult the general practitioner v.d. Duin/v. Dinther in case of study related issues.

General Practitioners.
For treatment of illnesses such as bronchitis or bladder infection, students should consult a general practitioner; students should choose one when they arrive in Wageningen. The practice of doctor van der Duin has recently expanded and admits new patients.

The General Practitioners for Wageningen University students are R. van der Duin and S. van Dinther. You can get a registration form and additional information at the studentdesk in the Forum building or you can register at the website of v.d. Duin/van Dinther here.
