The information on salary is only applicable for Research Assistants: (temporary) employees of Wageningen
University
Commencing on 1 September 2003 (info; ABVAKABO-FNV):
The research Assistant (AIO) in scale 10 ('P-scale' of the CAO-NU)
As of 1 September 2003, the Research Assistant is paid conform salary scale 10. The current CAO salary scale consists of 13 levels (level 0 through 12). A new level is being added: scale 10, level -1: a start-up scale for Research Assistants. By 1 September 2005, at the latest, all Research Assistants will be paid at scale 10. A first-year candidate will then start out receiving scale 10, level -1, a second-year candidate scale 10, level 0, a third-year candidate scale 10, level 1, and a fourth-year candidate scale 10, level 2. The period for obtaining a PhD is 4 years maximum. The salary of a PhD candidate is therefore maximised at salary scale 10, level 2.

Salary increase after assessment
As is the case for all other employees, increases are contingent upon a good evaluation. At the end of every study year there will be a performance interview in accordance with article 3.10 CAO of Dutch Universities. If a Research Assistant's evaluation is favourable he/she will be placed in a higher salary level.
According to the Collective Employment Agreement (CAO) of NWO, OIO salaries are bought to the same level as Research Assistant salaries. This CAO started on 1st January 2008.
