WGS Course: Philosophy and Ethics of Food Science and Technology

Introduction

This series of six Thursday afternoon sessions (15.00-17.30 h) will include hands-on dealings with ethical, philosophical, and societal issues surrounding science. It will include discussions with guest scientists from various scientific disciplines focusing on relevant actual cases from the realm of food technology, biotechnology, nutrition and health. The goal of this discussion series is to spark educated discussions on various facets of science and about the responsibilities of being a scientist.

The course is conceptualised and guided by four ethicists/philosophers: Prof. Frans Brom, Prof. Bart Gremmen, Dr. Josette Jacobs and Prof. Michiel Korthals

Course fee

This course is offered by Wageningen Graduate Schools (WGS)

For PhDs of WU* with an approved Education Plan (TSP) of one of the Wageningen Graduate Schools** and postdocs of WU registered at one of the Wageningen Graduate Schools** participation is free of charge. All others pay € 300,-.

*  or PhDs graduating at WU / participation is possible until one year after the PhD contract has ended

The fee includes study and training material and coffee / tea


Registration

Registration is based on the ‘first come, first serve’ principle.
