PromoV

PromoV is the fraction within the employees council (Local employees council or Student-Staff Council) that represents all temporary staff members like PhD students and Post-docs.
PromoV tries to improve working conditions and research quality of PhD students and Post-docs regardless of nationality or category (Fellow/Guest, AIO, external, etc).

For urgent matters regarding PhD supervision, housing, contracts, TSP and other important issues please contact the PhD council of your local graduate school or your PromoV representative.
Specific issues regarding courses and personal ITSP questions please contact the Director of Education of your local Graduate School.

If you feel that you are not taken serious or that your financial position is not fair compared to other PhD students, or do you feel that you do not get enough support from the HRM department or other supporting offices please feel free to mention this to your representative. Put your situation on paper and forward it and we promise to take action whenever possible!

In 2007 we looked at the current ITSP of the seven different graduate schools in Wageningen, the evaluation was finished in July 2008 and presented to the Wageningen PhD council and the directors of the Graduate Schools. The proposed changes and improvements will hopefully be implemented as soon as possible

Did you know that from 2005 on there are no education obligations for PhD students mentioned in the Collective labour agreement (CAO). This means that you cannot be forced to conduct teaching (assisting in practical courses, giving a lecture or even supervising BSc and MSc thesis students). Ofcourse for many PhD students teaching is a very good way to learn how to conduct education but the aim of teaching should always be in the favour of the PhD student and not to overcome personnel problems in your department. If you feel that you are "forced" to teach or if you feel that you are teaching because of lack of personnel please let us know!

If you want to join PromoV in an effort to ensure quality of research and increase the quality of working conditions. Or do you have a brilliant idea to stimulate research at Wageningen University please contact your representative Marjet Oosterkamp.
