 Decision support requires decision makers to carefully consider various possible decisions. To support decisions, detailed information is required on indicators that influence the decision or will be influenced by the decisions. Here, the role the scenarios play is important. Scenarios must be realistic and focusing on the proper actions. Modern technology (models, geographic information systems, remote sensing, sensors) have a crucial role. Often, support can only be indicative and then quantified uncertainties may be of help to see where further action is required. At the farmers level it requires proper information on field and crop conditions, at a higher governmental level aspects of land use, environment and ecology are important.
