Participatory model development is regarded as an iterative and interactive innovation process together with stakeholders (e.g. farmers or policymakers), rather than top-down modelling. In participatory research individual and joint learning and negotiation with stakeholders are core issues.Emerging behaviour describes system proporties that emerge after integration of subsystems. Its characteristics make sense on the higher system level only, although it is sometimes perfectly possible to understand it from the properties at the lower level. Levels of integration can vary widely. This seminar focuses on participatory model development in relation to emerging behaviour of models.
