Wageningen UR organizes Guide to digital scientific artwork, a 2-days practical course for PhD students, post-docs and staff, focusing on technical aspects of scientific illustration acquisition, processing and publishing for research journals, presentations and web sites.
After a general introduction on image properties, file types, resolution, sharpness and colour mod-els, the student will be guided through the main steps of image processing and improvement. Fi-nally, the tutors will guide you through the most important settings and parameters for producing Acrobat pdf documents of a thesis, a manual or a research paper.
The course gives examples of basic skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, and Micro-soft PowerPoint, using short demonstration films in a Blackboard learning space. The course aims at explaining most important steps needed to produce error-free artwork rather than providing a complete reference for DTP programmes. The course includes a CD-ROM with background infor-mation, access to the Blackboard learning space, and technical assistance during and after the course.
Lunch is included.
