On 9 March 1918 Wageningen University received official academic status and since then there has always been a celebration of the Dies Natalis. The Dies Celebration is centred around the Dies Address which usually focuses on an important subject concerning university activities. This year the Doctorate Board has chosen "Ethics" as the theme and the address "Science and professional ethics" will be spoken by Professor Ronald Plasterk, Professor of Developmental Genetics, Utrecht University.
