Exchange and generation of knowledge for sustainable agricultural development is undergoing many changes. New issues emerge, e.g. on how to cope with globalisation, with certification for Good Agricultural Practices, transition to organic farming, control of transboundary diseases, and so on. Therefore, also the organisation of R&D needs to continuously adapt and the stakeholders have to establish new skills, roles and positions. The topic of mixed farming is especially suited for a discussion on these changing roles and it is relevant for tropical and temperate countries.
This seminar is meant for a mixed audience of professionals from private and public organisations, consultants, policy makers, educators and students. The seminar is co-organised with a group of Dutch Livestock Training Centres (NCTR), consisting of PTC+ (Barneveld and Oenkerk), Wageningen International, Animal Production Systems Group of Wageningen University and Larenstein International Agriculture College (now Van Hall Larenstein). The seminar is also co-sponsored by the Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences and the C.T. de Wit Graduate School for Production Ecology and Resource Conservation.
