Robots tracing dandelions in a football field
The Field Robot Event is an annual competition held between small autonomously working robots designed for precision agriculture purposes. Besides navigation in a corn field, this year, the robots need to draw white lines, find dandelions and locate turf damage on a football pitch. These tasks are not unexpected, given that the World Football Cup 2006 is being held in Germany in the same period.
Field robots are accepted as a future vision in modern agriculture. A state-of-the-art topic with lots of interest in the public and the media - and a high level of attention in the industry. The Field Robot Event is young, attractive and challenging - and attracting more and more competitors from all around the world each year. After three exciting and challenging years in Wageningen, the Field Robot Event has gone on a journey itself: The University of Hohenheim, home to one of Europe’s oldest and biggest agricultural faculties, and Germany's largest campus university, is proud to be the host in 2006.
