29 May - 23 June 2006.
Appropriate implementation of Good Agricultural Practices and IPM for food safety and international market access require supportive and enabling policies and institutions. These may be achieved through multi- stakeholder processes (MSP), resulting in the development of enabling IPM policies and supportive institutional innovations. The above issues are included in the different courses of this international training programme.
It enhances the participant’s knowledge and ability to identify and solve problems in sustainable agriculture and IPM, particularly on:
- Transition processes
- Roles of stakeholders to support implementation of GAP, sustainable agriculture and IPM
- New products and niche markets
- Participatory extension approaches
- IPM policies and institutional innovations
- Food chains and the role of primary production in achieving food safety
- Use of pesticides in IPM to support food safety and environmental protection
- Public and private food safety grades and certification.
The four-week training programme consists of three individual courses and is organised in such a way that each can be regarded as a comprehensive programme on its own. The courses help professionals to acquire in-depth knowledge in a short time. Participants can also combine two or three courses in a personal training programme, compiling an individual learning programme tailored to their own needs and interests.
