22 May 2006 20:00 - 22 May 2006 22:00
Unit: Wageningen UR
Location: LA 13, Lawickse Allee 13, Wageningen
Organisation: Stichting RUW & IAAS Wageningen

During this debate Rob Bakker, researcher of Wageningen UR – Agrotechnology and Food Sciences Group, and Klaas Hoekstra, Board member of the Dutch Agricultural Trade Union (Nederlandse Akkerbouw Vakbond), will both present their view on the production of biomass for energy purposes and the chances this creates for the agricultural sector. In their introduction the speakers will focus on the situation in The Netherlands and Brasil.
After the introduction the speakers and the audience will debate about the questions:

Does the market of biomass for energy purposes differ from the market of biomass for feed of food purposes?
Does the use of biomass for energy production actually create new chances for the agricultural sector?

All students and staff members of Wageningen UR are welcome to join the debate.
