Variegated and interacting networks from all over the world cause a continuous flow of cultures on the move. At least two characteristics play an important role in this movement. Firstly, much knowledge remains hidden during this movement within the contexts in which people meet in this complex world. Secondly, the official debates are often in a state of confusion that discourages new insights in this complexity.
Both characteristics but applied to the world of tourism and leisure are the point of departure of this study. This hidden knowledge does not resonate enough in the scientific and professional discourses on tourism and leisure. Therefore, in this PhD an attempt has been made to involve this hidden knowledge in tourism and leisure studies. And next to this a start has been made to structure these scientific and professional discourses on tourism and leisure.
