A delegation of professors from Wageningen University was in Ghana and Benin mid-October for the doctorate ceremonies of eight PhD students from these countries. The eight PhD researchers did experiments with local farmers on subjects including weed and pest control, soil fertility and biodiversity.

The research is part of the Convergence of Science programme funded by INREF, in which social scientists, technologists and biologists formulate their research jointly and in accordance with the problems defined by the participating farmers. All the Wageningen members of the PhD committees were present at the ceremony.
