The Executive Committee of the WUF is calling for nominations for the Alumni Awards 2009. Remarkable achievements within the field of Wageningen University, deserve special attention and public recognition. By awarding prizes the Wageningen University Foundation honors those who created such a remarkable achievement. The Foundation Day Award 2009 concerns the Alumni Awards. The deadline for nominations is 31 January 2009
The Alumni Awards consist of two prizes:
• the Outstanding Alumnus Award
• the Award for Innovative Development
The Alumni Awards are presented to alumni of Wageningen University who are in the midst of their careers and – based on their acquired Wageningen expertise – have delivered a remarkable performance that contributes to the quality of life and which provides a good example for others. Moreover, the Award for Innovative Development acknowledges an alumnus who has played a special substantive role in the process of innovative development within an international framework, especially concerning international development issues.
The award consists of a certificate and a specially designed statuette.
To qualify for this award, candidates must:
- have earned an academic title (ir., Dr., BSc, MSc or PhD) from Wageningen UR. Graduates of the former International Agricultural Centre (IAC) can also qualify for the award.
- have provided an exceptional contribution to the quality of life in the domain of healthy food and living environment comprising the core areas of nutrition and food production, living environment and health, lifestyle and livelihood.
Nominations can be sent to the WUF, by post or e-mail and must contain the following information:
- Name and address of the nominee
- His or her professional background and current position (CV)
The study programme or course that was taken in Wageningen
- A description of the arguments for the nomination of this individual
- The name and job title of the individual making the nomination
Please note: It is not possible for someone to nominate themselves as a candidate; candidates must be nominated by another individual.
