This week researchers from Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation and LEI, part of Wageningen UR, made a start with a project that aims to tackle the challenges to introduce and implement Good Agricultural Practices for both the domestic and international markets.
In collaboration with Professor Ahmad Sulaeman of IPB and experts from the Horti Chain Centre in Jakarta, a participatory research approach will be used to identify critical success factors for establishing a joint public-private effort to role out the good practices and certification schemes in a large part of the horticultural sector.
Within the modern retail sector of Indonesia there is an increasing awareness about food safety assurance and the roles and responsibilities that rest with various stakeholder in and around the horticultural value chains.
