Unit: Wageningen UR

The Executive Board of Wageningen UR has appointed Huub Löffler (54) as Director Wageningen International effective 1 June 2010. Huub Löffler will succeed Bram Huijsman (59) who joined the Social Sciences Group at the beginning of 2010 where he is responsible for the international programmes.

Löffler studied Biology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and was awarded his doctoral degree within Fytopatology at Utrecht University. Löffler started his career at Wageningen UR in 1988 at IVT followed by CPRO-DLO and PRI. During these years he held the positions of researcher, project leader and Cluster leader Food & Health.

In 2004 Löffler was appointed as Executive Secretary and Head of Marketing and Sales at PSG. Since 2008 Löffler has participated in the Sustainable Production and Food Security group led by Rudy Rabbinge. Löffler has always been actively involved in setting up and carrying out international programmes for, amongst others, the EU, InterAcademy Council, KNAW and WOTRO.
