Development organisations increasingly turn to various forms of multi-stakeholder collaboration to leverage pro-poor change. They seek to scale up impact and to inspire deeper forms of social, economic and political transformation through new alliances and partnerships, often with business and government.

The Change Alliance is an emerging international network of individuals and organisations, joining their forces to make the multi-stakeholder processes in which they engage more effective. One of its main goals is to enable practitioners to build their capacities by exchanging knowledge and experiences. The secretariat of the Change Alliance is at the Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation.

'Inspiring Change' event
After the launch of the Change Alliance in Wageningen in 2009, several initiatives are underway to stimulate development of this global network. One of these is the Inspiring Change event (a sharing and learning event for African facilitators of multi-stakeholder collaboration and change processes), which will take place in Nairobi from 1-3 December. It aims to share and collate state-of-the-art experiences, and to explore ways of supporting and strengthening capacity for effective facilitation of multi-actor processes. The event is organised by the Change Alliance, SNV South and East Africa and is partly financed by PSO. It will bring together a group of experienced process facilitators from across Africa as well as development organisation leaders and interested donors. It will be an opportunity to share inspiring experiences of multi-actor change, which may inspire participants to try and support these change processes.
