Unit: LEI

On 27 May 2010 a workshop on 'Structural Changes in the Agrifood Sector in China and India; future prospects for supply, demand and trade', will take place in Brussels, Belgium. The workshop will present the achievements of two EU-funded research projects on China and India, CATSEI and TAPSIM.

China and India have been successful to recover from the recent global financial crisis. What are the main challenges ahead of these countries for the coming 10 to 20 years? How to cope with scarce resources (e.g. land and water), securing food supplies for population? What are the main structural changes in the agrifood sectors in China and India and how they translate in prospects for supply, demand and trade? What are the perspectives of supply, demand and trade in these countries in the medium term?

The project TAPSIM is coordinated by LEI, working together with partners in Europe and India, and LEI is one of the consortium members of the CATSEI project.
