Wageningen University is a part of Wageningen University and Research Centre (Wageningen UR).

Employees of Wageningen UR are ambitious when it comes to working on the quality of life. Every employee wants to make a contribution in their own way. For optimal results, a healthy foundation is essential. Work and care tasks must be combined in a balanced fashion. Wageningen UR believes it is important to ensure this balance.

Depending on the specific job and workplace, this balance between work and care tasks is made possible in various ways, such as flexible working hours, part-time work, sometimes the opportunity to work at home or the possibility to take sabbatical leave. Wageningen UR uses a so-called cafeteria model (Optare) that makes it possible to vary the conditions of employment – with certain preconditions – even on a yearly basis.

Due to the structure of our organisation, Wageningen UR has three collective labour agreements (CAOs) that differ in terms of details, but which are essentially equivalent.
