How and why do adults behave differently in different parts of the world? Differences in personality, social values and parenting motivation can be traced back to differences in rearing patterns and family constellations during childhood. Atha Chasiotis demonstrates empirically that, among others, the number of siblings and parental socioeconomic status have a great impact.
Dr. Atha Chasiotis teaches Cross-Cultural Psychology at the Universiteit van Tilburg. His research focuses, among others, on the upbringing of children in different cultures.
This lecture is part of an Akademia Honora series on Cross-Cultural Psychology
Akademia Honora is a unique programme within Studium Generale. Throughout the year we reflect on science/ knowledge, society/ practice and the personal sphere in separate Akademia Honora series by exploring in depth the underlying concepts in several sessions.
