Nutrition and Climate

The course will cover basic aspects of nutrition and acclimation physiology, and will focus on the interaction between the impact of climate conditions on nutrition and the nutritional requirements of poultry. The scientific basis of the interaction between climate and nutrition will be discussed, as well as the effects of individual feed ingredients. Part of the course will be devoted to a discussion about the influence of nutrition and climate on immunology, stress and the occurrence of metabolic diseases, all important health parameters. In addition, the importance of nutrition and climate for a high-quality, safe endproduct and the latest developments in alternative production systems will be covered.
The objective of the course is to provide a concise update on the principles of poultry nutrition and climate. You will gain an understanding of the latest developments in the field against the background of changing societal perceptions of poultry production practices. The focus will be on theoretical background information, while practical solutions will also be discussed.
