The winner of the Food Valley Award 2011 is Nutri-Pulse e-Cooker, developed in association with Food & Biobased Research. It is an innovative product that uses Pulsed Electric Field technology to prepare food very quickly, at low temperatures, preserving the nutrients and using very little energy.
The director of the company that markets Nutri-Pulse e-Cooker, Govert van Oord from IXL Netherlands, accepted the Food Valley Award 2011 during the Food Valley Expo on Thursday 13 October. "It’s all very well convincing yourself that you have found cutting edge technology, but when external experts confirm your suspicions, it’s simply fantastic", said Van Oord. He gave particular thanks to Hennie Mastwijk and Jeroen Knol, researchers at Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research and the “inventors of the e-Cooker”.
Prize is good publicity
The Food Valley Award can be an enormous incentive to a start-up enterprise. “Recognition of their work boosted the team’s confidence and generated a lot of international publicity”, said last year’s winner, Monique van Wordragen, managing director of NSure (another product from the Food & Biobased Research stable). “Grab this opportunity to promote your product far and wide”, she advised the latest winner.
